About Us

CAAN Academy of Nursing is a not-for-profit 501C3 Practical Nursing Program. Designed for the Adult and High School learner, preparing students to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

CAAN has national accreditation through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

CAAN has approval to operate through both the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) and Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulations (IDFPR).

CAAN Academy Mission

To provide comprehensive academic instruction on the highest level that promotes and facilitates Personal, and Professional Development in Nursing. Centering upon the client; with a dedication to community awareness and education, career building, life-long learning and most importantly the administration of Caring Compassion within the Health Care Profession.
CAAN Academy of Nursing addresses three (3) needs:
  1. The need to infuse the community with caring compassionate nurses.
  2. The need to increase diversity in the nursing workforce to decrease the healthcare disparity.
  3. The need to provide career opportunities for certification or licensure.
Programs offered:
CAAN Academy of Nursing Practical/Vocational Nurse Training Program awards one to two (if elected) certificates upon completion of the 1180 clock hours program:

1. Basic Nurse Assistant Training (BNAT/CNA) (if elected and applicable)on successful completion of the first course of study PN 101 Fundamentals.

2. Practical Nurse (PN) on completion of the program with the Pharmacology -Venipuncture Certification awarded with PN completion certificate.

CAAN Academy of Nursing, programs’ uniqueness is related to the Professional Development (PD) Component, threaded throughout the program. This component promotes a holistic approach to teaching nursing education encompassing mind, body, and spirit. In order to accomplish this objective CAAN has multiple collaborations with organizations such as; SkillsUSA, American Kidney Foundation (AKF),American Cancer Society (ACS), Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) and the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies (VFW) Auxiliary for students to practice providing community healthcare awareness and education.
